In his vengeance campaign against the "Norwegians", Mr. Griess does not shy away from any defamation. Even the doctor who preserved Mr. Griess' daughter from committing suicide, is reported on by Mr. Griess to the Medical Academy with the accusation that he "downright wanted to poison his daughter". But this attack, as well, is a grasping at thin air. On May 21, 1986, the above-mentioned doctor is found innocent of the allegations leveled against him.
The Finding of the Medical Academy, DK 50/85W
As has already been presented various times, Wiltrud Griess first got to know Dr. Koller's family at a university Norwegian course. She tells several members of the family about her childhood experiences with incest, and her resulting psychological problems. Dr. Koller, of course, recognizes her sick condition, and he, being himself an internist, as well as a homoeopath, recommends a profound reatment by competent specialists.
Wiltrud Griess accepts this advice, and since that time (and up to this day) she is being treated, in regular intervals, by various specialists, psychotherapists, and psychiatrists.
Herself later writes the following in a statutory declaration on March 30, 1996 concerning the facts of this case. (Excerpt): "I, Wiltrud Griess, born on March 6, 1963, living in Vienna 11, Dampfmühlgasse 3/10, make this statutory declaration:
My father, Mr. D.I. Friedrich Griess, has been claiming for many years - both in writing and orally:
-
that the movement, called the "Norwegians", is to have rendered me severely psychologically unwell. This claim is completely false!
-
The truth is that the root of my psychological problems comes from traumatic incestuous experiences during my childhood. In addition to this, my psychological problems were also recognized by doctors outside of this fellowship, among others, by Dr. Krieger, a specialist in neurology and psychiatry, who is a legally sworn-in specialist. He diagnosed an endogenous depression.
-
My father visited this doctor, and accused him of collaborating with the "sect". From this, the doctor understood that my father was suffering under a "sect delusion", and he told him so straight to his face. The doctor later related this to me..."
Although Dr. Koller only wants to help Mr. Griess' daughter, and, therefore, recommends that she receive treatment at the hands of recognized specialists, who have nothing whatsoever to do with the "Norwegian-movement", nevertheless, Mr. Griess now attempts to harm the reputation and existence of Dr. Koller, by means of an evil smear campaign.
During a visit to the home of Dr. Koller, Wiltrud Griess once again expresses her intention of committing suicide. Dr. Koller recognizes that there is a very real danger of this, and he helps her by means of a single, homoeopathic emergency treatment.
The intention of this assistance of Dr. Koller is now being changed into an evil report by her father, Mr. Griess, as if it had been a supposed "poisoning attempt!". By means of the most primitive accusations that simply defy description, Dr. Koller is branded as being a criminal brute, and our fellowship as being a dangerous sect, which apparently wants to use unauthorized medical treatment to make people bend to its will.
Because of his report against Dr. Koller, Mr. Griess is subpoenaed to the Medical Academy on Nov. 6, 1984. Here are a few "samples" of his oral evidence at that time, which we are able to exhibit (as, also, the complete file in its entirety):
"Mr. D.I. Friedrich Griess. . . appears and presents the following, with the request to further his cause:
"My daughter Wiltrud has been a member of a sect, called the "Norwegians" or "Smith's Friends", since the beginning of 1983. Dr. Alexander Koller might have had a tremendous influence, in every respect, upon my daughter, and still might be influencing her…By means of Dr. Alexander Koller's treatment, these people are made ripe for a psychiatrist…the fact is, that some of the members of the sect have become so sick that they are unable to work...
After explicit inquiries, I submit the fact that Dr. Koller has no office of his own, and he did not request any payment, until now, for my daughter's "treatment"
I declare that I am in agreement that the Medical Academy should take every possible step to prevent the possibility of my daughter's being driven to commit suicide because of her adherence to this sect."
As a result, the facts are thoroughly investigated by the disciplinary authorities of the "Medical Academy for Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland". In a further writing to the disciplinary lawyer of the Medical Academy, the following is clearly expressed: Mr. Griess, also, had to acknowledge the following before the Medical Academy: Both Dr. Koller and 3 other doctors; a house doctor, a specialist for neurology, and a university professor, who Wiltrud Griess visited independently of one another, all had the same diagnosis for the patient, Wiltrud Griess.
Besides her psychological problems, resulting from her horrible childhood experiences, she, obviously, suffers under an inherited endogenous depression, which, again, has nothing to do with our fellowship.
Yet all of these clear diagnosisses of specialists in no way hinder Mr. Griess from continuing to place the blame for the condition of his daughter's health on the "evil Norwegians", on Dr. Koller, and on Wiltrud, herself.
Toward the end of his writing, Mr. Griess presumes to the ridiculous, and purely invented accusation that he and his wife think that it is "in any case imaginable" that their daughter was "downright poisoned by Dr. Koller in order to bend her will to the ideas of his sect".
Here is an excerpt from Mr. Griess' word-for-word statement - from the Disciplinary Council of the Austrian Medical Academy on August 26, 1985:
This document is typical of Mr. Griess' methods. He constantly fantasizes about a supposed nebulous, negative influence upon his daughter through our fellowship. In one breath, he admits that competent specialists diagnosed his child's having an endogenous depression, nevertheless, Dr. Koller is to have supposedly "poisoned" his daughter (with a harmless homoeopathic medicine).
Despite Mr. Griess' intensive efforts to blacken Dr. Koller's name at all costs, at the Medical Academy, and if possible, to destroy his professional existence, by accusing him, and our faith fellowship, of being to blame for the psychological illness of his daughter, his attempts have been doomed to fail. After thorough investigation and interrogation of the persons concerned, a clear verdict of acquittal for Dr. Koller is given in a trial before the Austrian High Court by the presiding judge on May 21, 1986:
