It is not possible to overcome sin by attempting it in one's own, human strength, but only when one has experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit, just as the disciples experienced it on the Day of Pentecost. Only then can a person obey the Spirit, or "walk in the Spirit" as the Bible expresses it (Galatians 5:16). We also strive for the "gifts of the Spirit (speaking in tongues, interpretation, healing of the sick, etc.) and we make use of them for mutual edification and aid.
