Before we can receive the forgiveness of sins we must repent of our sins and have the attitude of mind that we do not want to sin any longer. Jesus even said to the woman whom the scribes had caught in the act of adultery and therefore wanted to stone to death: "Go, and sin no more!" The Apostle John writes: "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2: 1+2.
